The Context Bridge: why this story, why now
Before we map the rooms, one idea that changes how you think about all of them.
Your startup is rarely the most interesting story. The interesting story is the shift in the world that makes your startup necessary. Your company is not inherently compelling to anyone but you. What is compelling is the bigger story your company happens to be part of, and your job is to find that story, explain it better than anyone else, and make your company feel like the inevitable consequence of it. When you do that well, investors, press, buyers and partners do not feel like they are evaluating a product. They understand why this decision belongs now rather than someday. In the biggest category shifts, that can feel larger than evaluating a product; it feels like choosing where to stand as the market changes.
The six stories you have built tell a room who you are, what you are fighting for, where it is going, whose world you understand, what you change, and what proof exists. That is most of what makes a company believable. But there is one question they do not directly answer, and a sharp investor or partner will be asking it silently: why now? Why is this the moment? Why was this not possible, or not necessary, five years ago?
