Extract and deploy the Purpose

You now have your deep Purpose version. Now you cut from it, and the cutting is recognition, not rewriting. You read what you wrote and find the parts that carry the weight. For the Purpose Story there are four.

The Purpose extractions

The extraction sheet for this lesson walks you through all four, with Clara’s answers beside each one.

And this is the moment to name something that matters for both of these stories. You will be asked, constantly, for your purpose statement and your vision statement, the single portable lines a board, a brand agency, or a website form wants from you. You should absolutely produce them, and the extractions you are doing right now are exactly how. But hold this clearly: a statement is an extraction from the source, not the source itself. The deep Purpose Story is the source; the Purpose Statement is one line cut from it. The deep Vision Story is the source; the Vision Statement and the scene are cut from it. People who try to write the statement first, with no story underneath, produce the weightless lines we spent this whole section learning to avoid. So each story gives you a layered set: the deep version, a one-line statement, and the sixty-second telling, all cut from the same block, and you reach for whichever the moment needs.
