Ecosystem Restoration Standard

From an initiative to a standard.

Wildsense was building a restoration standard for corporate buyers and project developers. Its name and identity read as a grassroots project.

The standard now operates as Equitable Earth. This case covers the work under the ERS name.

The problem

A standard that looked like a grassroots project.

Wildsense was building a restoration standard in a market led by Verra and Gold Standard.

Corporate buyers need full trust before they commit to a new standard. They saw a name and identity that read as a grassroots effort. The model, with its digital monitoring, reporting and verification, also had to be easy to take in.

“As a young company interacting with large corporates, building credibility was absolutely key to our business.”

Thibault Sorret, Founder and CEO

The shift

From an initiative to a standard.

Buyers needed a certifying institution. We recommended a new name and supported the search. The team chose Ecosystem Restoration Standard, a name that says what the organisation does.

The work

A name, an identity and two routes in.

  1. 01

    Strategy and story

Brand workshops connected community-led restoration with corporate buyers and project developers, then set the founder story, purpose and messaging.

  2. 02

    Naming and identity

We recommended the name change and supported the search. The identity is heritage-inspired, in black, gold and white.

  3. 03

    Website and launch

A website with separate routes for credit buyers and project developers, a launch speech, press releases and brochures.

What changed

Launched as a certifying body.

ERS launched with one position across its website, launch speech, press releases, brochures and partner presentations.

“The rebrand was a game-changer. … Our brand is now an asset.”

Thibault Sorret, Founder and CEO, ERS

What happened next

From a new standard to Equitable Earth.

ERS attracted senior market talent, including former Verra President and Interim CEO Judith Simon, expanded its programme, acquired the Equitable Earth standard and now operates under the Equitable Earth name.
