his week we celebrated International Women’s Day #IWD2022, and this year’s theme was ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.'

his week we celebrated International Women’s Day #IWD2022, and this year’s theme was ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.'

According to the UN, women are generally more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change – but why is this the case?

UN Women says that women are typically more vulnerable because they constitute the majority of the world’s poor and are more dependent on natural resources threatened by climate change for their livelihood.

On top of that, women can face additional social, economic and political barriers that limit their coping capacity to deal with climate change impacts.

But women are also leading the way when it comes to climate action. Whether it be breaking through the glass ceiling in traditionally male-dominated industries, or setting policies in government to fight climate change, or developing new solutions and leading communities to do their part to protect our environment.
